ஷடானனம் குங்கும
ரக்தவர்ணம்
மஹாமதிம்
திவ்யமயூர வாஹனம் |
ருத்ரஸ்ய சூனும்
சுரசைன்ய நாதம்
குஹம் ஸதா
ஷரணமஹம் ப்ரபத்யே ||

षडाननम् कुंकुम 
रक्त वर्णं
महा मतिम् 

दिव्य मयूर वाहनम् ।
रुद्रस्य सूनुम् 

सुसैन्य नाथं
गुहम् सदा 
शरणमहम् प्रपद्ये ||

Meaning :
  • I always take refuge in Guha of six faces (Subramanya), who is of deep red color like kumkuma, who possesses great knowledge, who has the divine peacock to ride on, who is the son of Rudra (Siva), and who is the leader of the army of the Devas.

உருவாய் அருவாய்

கதியாய் விதியாய்க்
குருவாய் வருவாய்
அருள்வாய் குகனே...

Meaning :
  • Salutation to Lord Muruga, You are the Preceptor! You are the Supreme Being, who has form, and who has no form! You are an existent being, and You are also an invisible being! 
  • You are the fragrance, and You are also the flower, having the fragrance! You are the precious gem, and You are also its lustre! 
  • You are the embryo, where the soul abides, and You are also the body and soul! You are the abode of mukthi [liberation] and You are also the destiny, which drives the soul to the abode of mukthi!
  • May You be gracious enough to appear before me as the Preceptor, and bestow me grace!

ஸர்வ மங்கள மாங்கல்யே
சிவே ஸர்வார்த்த சாதிகே |
சரண்யே த்ரயம்பகே கௌரி
நாராயணி நமோஸ்துதே ||

सर्वमङ्गल माङ्गल्ये
शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके ।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि
नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥

Meaning :
  • Our Salutations to you Goddess Narayani, who is the Auspiciousness in all the Auspicious, Auspiciousness herself, Complete with all the Auspicious Attributes, and who fulfills all the Objectives of the Devotees, who is the Giver of Refuge, with Three eyes and Shining Face.

Manjula Vāgvilāsām |
Māhendra Neela Dyuti Komalāngeem
Mātanga Kanyām
Manasā Smarāmi ||

மாணிக்ய வீணாம் உபலாலயந்தீம்
மதாலஸாம்
மஞ்சுள  வாக்விலாஸாம் |
மகேந்திர  நீல  த்யுதி கோமலாங்கீம்
மாதங்க  கன்யாம்
மனசா ஸ்மராமி ||

माणिक्यवीणामुपलालयन्तीं
मदालसां
मञ्जुल वाग्विलासाम् ।
माहेन्द्र नीलद्युति कोमलाङ्गीं
मातङ्गकन्यां
मनसा स्मरामि ॥

Meaning :
  • I always meditate on the daughter of Mathanga Maharishi who playfully holds a Veena made of Manikya, who is lazy by intoxication, whose speech is picturesque and beautiful and whose body is resplendent like the dark blue gemstone.

தரணீ கர்ப ஸம்பூதம்
வித்யுத் காந்திம் ஸமப்ரபம் |

மங்களம் ப்ரணமாம்யஹம் ||

धरणीगर्भ संभूतं 
विद्युत्कांतीं समप्रभम् |
कुमारं शक्तिहस्तंच
मंगलं प्रणमाम्यहम् ||


Ardhakāyam Mahāveeryam
Chandhrādhithya Vimardhanam |
Simhikā Garbha Sambhootham
Tham Rāhum Pranamāmyaham || 

அர்த்தகாயம் மஹாவீர்யம்
சந்திராதித்ய விமர்த்தனம் |
ஸிம்ஹிகா கர்ப்ப ஸம்பூதம்
தம் ராகும் ப்ரணமாம்யஹம் ||

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं
चंद्रादित्य विमर्दनम् |
सिंहिका गर्भसंभूतं
तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ||

पलाशपुष्प संकाशं
तारका ग्रह मस्तकम् |
रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं
तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यह
म् || 

Meaning :
  • I offer my obeisances to Shree Mangala, the god of the planet Mars, who was born from the womb of the earth goddess. His brilliant effulgence is like that of lightning, and he appears as a youth carrying a spear in his hand.
  • I bow down to Rahu who has only half body, but possesses the power to subdue even the sun and the moon. He was born from the womb of Simhika.
  • I offer my obeisances to the violent and fearsome Kethu, who is endowed with the potency of Lord Shiva.  Resembling in his complexion the flower of a palasa plant, he serves as the head of the stars and planets.
