The Lingasthakam Stotram is a prayer formed with eight salutations offered to Lord Shiva in his aspect as Linga. Linga is the universal symbol of creation and source of everything. This prayer glorifies the Shiva Linga and details its greatness.
Each verse lists the God’s glory and the benefits of worshipping the Shiva Linga. It states that,
★ Linga is worshipped by Vishnu and Brahma
★ Filled with peace at all times
★ It destroys any suffering caused by the cycle of birth and rebirth.
★ Worshipped by sages and gods,
★ It has powerful enough to take away the pride of dreadful demons like Ravana
★ It burns away desire
★ Linga adorned with fragrances
★ It is covered by sandal paste and kumkum and adorned with garlands.
★ It has the power to destroy the past karmas of worshippers.
★ Shiva Linga brings increased intelligence.
Brahmamurāri surārcitaliṅgaṃ
Nirmala bhāsita śobhitaliṅgam ।
Janma jaduḥkha vināśakaliṅgaṃ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśivaliṅgam ॥ 1॥
ब्रह्ममुरारि सुरार्चित लिङ्गं
निर्मल भासित शोभित लिङ्गम् ।
जन्मजदुःख विनाशक लिङ्गं
तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिव लिङ्गम् ॥ १॥

நிர்மல பாஸித ஶோபித லிங்க³ம் ।
ஜந்ம ஜது:³க² விநாஶக லிங்க³ம்

The Linga that is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu, and all the Gods, the Linga that is pure of speech and is radiant, the Linga that destroys the sorrow arising out of birth, to that Linga the Sadashiva, my prostrations.

The Linga that is worshipped by the sages, the destroyer of of Kama, Linga, the compassionate, the Linga, the destroyer of the arrogance of Ravana, to that Linga, the Sadashiva, my prostrations.
Sarva sugandhi sulepitaliṅgaṃ
Buddhi vivardhana kāraṇaliṅgam ।
Siddha surāsura vanditaliṅgaṃ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam ॥ 3॥
सर्व सुगन्धि सुलेपित लिङ्गं
बुद्धि विवर्धन कारण लिङ्गम् ।
सिद्ध सुरासुर वन्दित लिङ्गं
तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिव लिङ्गम् ॥ ३॥

பு³த்³தி விவர்தந காரண லிங்க³ம் ।

The Linga annointed with saffron and sandal paste and appears radient with a garland of lotuses, the Linga that destroys accumulated sins, to that Linga, the Sadashiva, my prostrations.
Deva gaṇārcita sevitaliṅgaṃ
Bhāvair bhakti bhireva ca liṅgam ।
Dinakara koṭi prabhākara liṅgaṃ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam ॥ 6॥
देव गणार्चित सेवित लिङ्गं
भावैर्भक्ति भिरेव च लिङ्गम् ।
दिनकर कोटि प्रभाकर लिङ्गं
तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिव लिङ्गम् ॥ ६॥

aṣṭadaridra vināśana liṅgaṃ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam ॥ 7॥
अष्ट दलोपरि वेष्टित लिङ्गं
सर्व समुद्भव कारण लिङ्गम् ।
अष्ट दरिद्र विनाशनलिगं लिङ्गं
तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिव लिङ्गम् ॥ ७॥
அஷ்ட த³லோபரி வேஷ்டித லிங்க³ம்
ஸர்வ ஸமுத்³பவ காரண லிங்க³ம் ।
அஷ்ட த³ரித்³ர விநாஶன லிங்க³ம்
தத் ப்ரணமாமி ஸதா³ஶிவ லிங்க³ம் ॥ 7॥
The Linga that is enveloped with eight-fold petals, the Linga that is the cause of all creation and that which destroys the eightfold poverty, to that Linga, the Sadashiva, my prostrations.
Suraguru suravara pūjita liṅgaṃ
Suravana puṣpa sadārcita liṅgam ।
Parātparaṃ paramātmaka liṅgaṃ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam ॥ 8॥
सुरगुरु सुरवर पूजित लिङ्गं
सुरवन पुष्प सदार्चित लिङ्गम् ।
परात्परं परमात्मक लिङ्गं
तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिव लिङ्गम् ॥ ८॥
ஸுரகு³ரு ஸுரவர பூஜித லிங்க³ம்
ஸுரவந புஷ்ப ஸதா³ர்சித லிங்க³ம் ।
பராத்பரம் பரமாத்மக லிங்க³ம்
தத் ப்ரணமாமி ஸதா³ஶிவ லிங்க³ம் ॥ 8॥
The Linga who is worshipped by the guru of the gods and elite of the devas, the Linga who is worshipped with the divine flowers and the Linga who is higher than the highest, the supreme Self, to that Linga, the Sadashiva, my prostrations.
Liṅgāṣṭaka midaṃ puṇyaṃ
yaḥ paṭhet śiva sannidhau ।
Sivaloka mavāpnoti
Sivena saha modate ॥
लिङ्गाष्टक मिदं पुण्यं
