Brahmacharini

‘Brahma’ means tapas which means penance. The people of Bengal, who are masters of the worship of Goddess Durga, worship Goddess Durga in nine aspects. One of them is Brahmacharini.

This is the image of the Goddess that is worshiped on the second night of the nine-day Navratri Durga Puja.

This goddess will always be immersed in meditation. Dressed in a white robe, she is seen holding a rosary on her right hand and a mandala on her left. There is no vehicle for Goddess Brahmacharini.

In order to marry Lord Shiva, she underwent severe penance for several thousand years. Her fervor shook all three worlds. Puranas has it that Lord Shiva eventually married Brahmacharini.

By worshiping the Brahmacharini who is full of knowledge, wisdom and gratitude we would get more patience. Also removes laziness and does not give agility

Worship of this Goddess is gives us more determination in the mind; Gain the ability to accomplish anything.

There is a temple dedicated to Brahmacharini Durga in Kanyakumari, India.
